"I remember getting the train to Middlesbrough to buy records at Alan Fearnley’s, drinking in The Navigator before and after the Boro matches, skateboarding at Redcar skatepark, learning to ride my bike in Ropner Park. Living somewhere as isolated as Richmond meant it was very difficult to get anywhere to see bands play. I spent a lot of my late teens staggering the streets of Middlesbrough and The Empire which was a great place to see bands play. Going to the Empire, watching Geordie magicians in the Green Dragon yard at Stockton Riverside Festival. It’s the place I grew up, they’re the things that made me who I am and it’ll never be too far from my thoughts."
